True forgiveness is freedom: the freedom to move on.  It means you have made a decision, not to allow the memory of a past event to control you. Forgiveness requires both mental and emotional effort. It is not a weakness, in fact, it requires strength and courage to let go, so that the burden, the fear of the past event or person’s actions is lifted from your shoulders.

People who refuse to forgive don’t know what happiness is. What has happened in the past is only what you allow yourself to experience as a memory.  It has no control over you in the present moment.

What is better for you: love or hate? Forgiveness is the result of loving energy. It is our responsibility to make the world a better place, where you experience letting go of hatred, resentment and bitterness.

True forgiveness means you are healing yourself; it means looking inside your heart and finding no hatred or darkness. True forgiveness is an act of maturity and an act of love you offer yourself.

With love, kindness and compassion,
